Dark ambient is quite specific musical genre. It doesn't require any abilities of playing any instrument. A common PC and a bit of patience in many cases is enough. The result is that almost anyone could try his skills in composing ambient music. We have plenty of new projects and the truth is that most of them is simply rubbish... That's why I'd like to start a series of short interviews with unsigned artists which in my opinion are much better than many artists with already at least one CD released. The artists I'd like to present totally deserve for special attention. Who knows, perhaps someone will notice them... That's my purpose. ![]() ![]() I.G.C.: It was started when I got the necessary equipment to realize the musical ideas I had. Music education helped me to create my compositions. 2. I'd like to ask you about your musical influences. I.G.C.: It is all music and other influences, which formed my musical taste and perception by the moment, which I started to record. If we talk about favourite music by those moment, it is, generally, dark ambient and some martial/neoclassic. Also, I like raw black metal. Other genres I listen less. 3. Why did you choose dark ambient to express your feelings? I.G.C.: Dark ambient is my favourite music during all my life. Earlier, I just didn't know about this musical genre, but always was imbued when sometimes heared it somewhere. 4. As I see, melody is quite important feature for you. Am I right? What do you think about typically non-melodic Dark Ambient? I.G.C.: Not exactly melody, but harmony, appropriate to express certain emotions and to touch the strings of the spirit. Concerning totally non-melodic dark ambient, for example, based on samples and field recordings - I respect it too. 5. You live in Kazan. Are there any other interesting projects in your city? I.G.C.: Not so many, but maybe I don’t know about some starting or little known projects. I want to mention drone ambient project Erthad. Also, looking wider, there is a one normal true raw underground black metal band Inverted Tiphareth. 6. You're still an unsigned artist. I feel your music has potential - did you receive any sign of interest from any label? I.G.C.: No, just from one net label, but that's not important, because I don't like distribution of music by internet in other case, than acquaintance. “Net label release” sounds absurd for me. I support normal labels and releases. 7. I know your first full material is ready. I'd like to ask you about a concept behind that material (of course if there is any)? I.G.C.: Lost soul’s wandering, one more convolution, eerie trip in the innerworld of microcosm... 8. What is the main non musical inspiration for you? I.G.C.: It is experience of my own life and feelings. 9. What would you like to achieve with IN GOOD CONSCIENCE? I.G.C.: First, I would like to be able to transfer any wanted emotions or impressions into required soundscapes, to realize and feel the nature of originating music. Also, music as an essence is very important for me, so, from this point of view, I want my project to be worth. Stark More information: www.myspace.com/ingoodconscience ![]() |
