"Saltwater and Glassmoon" to jedno z czterech pierwszych wydawnictw nowej greckiej wytwórni Stellar Auditorium. Z czasem przedstawię także pozostałe, na razie jednak zajmę się materiałem PROCER VENEFICUS.

Projekt to bliżej mi nieznany, choć jak sprawdziłem na Discogs, już dobrych kilka wydawnictw na swoim koncie ma. Nie ukrywam, że po "lekturze" Słonej Wody i Szklanego Księżyca mam nieodpartą ochotę na zapoznanie się z poprzednimi dziełami Dereka Schultza. Przypadła mi do gustu ta płyta, choć nie da się ukryć, że przebrnięcie przez nią wymaga nieco samozaparcia i pewnego już "obycia" w dark ambiencie. Konceptualnie wydawnictwo to traktuje o oceanicznych głębiach. Na pozór nie dzieje się tu nic, to prawie wyłącznie monotonne drony, na dodatek dość "głucho" (podwodnie?) brzmiące plus trochę subtelnych "field recordings". Bądźmy szczerzy - gdyby przeprowadzić eksperyment, zaprosić osobę spoza ambientowych "kręgów", puścić "Saltwater and Glassmoon", i po zakończeniu płyty spytać ową osobę jak jej się podobała muzyka, to najbardziej prawdopodobną odpowiedzią byłoby: "To tu leciała jakaś muzyka?" Fakt, jako słyszalne/niesłyszalne wypełnienie tła płyta sprawdza się doskonale, ale warto dać jej szansę także na tej drugiej płaszczyźnie i wykorzystać ją jako dźwiękowy narkotyk, spróbować za jej pomocą oderwać umysł od cielesnej powłoki i poszybować tuż nad powierzchnią morza wyciągając dłoń ku księżycowi w pełni (tak, piję do okładki). Ta muzyka naprawdę ku temu sprzyja, nie ma tu ani jednego momentu, który mógłby zakłócić błogostan, jest za to melancholijnie i wbrew pozorom... letnio. Tak jak letnia jest ta noc na okładce. Gdybym miał rzucić jakimś muzycznym skojarzeniem to... bo ja wiem... może "Sunyata" Roberta Richa?

"Saltwater and Glassmoon" od paru tygodni towarzyszy mi właściwie co noc. Za dnia, kiedy jest jasno i gorąco, raczej nie sięgam po album PROCER VENEFICUS, ale kiedy kładę się spać, zapuszczam wydawnictwo Stellar Auditorium, uruchamiam funkcję "repeat" i udaję się w objęcia Morfeusza. Jakoś lepiej mi się sypia ostatnio.

"Saltwater and Glassmoon" is one of first four releases of young Greek label called Stellar Auditorium. I will also present the rest of them, but first let's take a look on PROCER VENEFICUS material. I'm not really familiar with this project, but as I checked on Discogs, it already released a couple of albums. Honestly speaking, after a "lecture" of "Saltwater and Glassmoon" I have irresistable desire to familiarize myself with the rest of Derek Schultz releases. This production is really to my liking, but also I have to say that it demands a kind of familiarity or experience with dark ambient matter. Conceptually this release treats of oceanic depths. Apparently nothing happens here, nothing but monotonous drones, which furthermore sound very dull (underwater?). In addiction we have some subtle field recordings here. Let's be honest - if we'd try to make an experiment, invite a person not familiar with ambient, let her listen to "Saltwater and Glassmoon" and then ask about the opinion, about the music, the most likely answer would be: "Huh? What music?". It's true, this album manages as audible/non-audible filling of background, but it's worth to give it a try also on another ground and to treat "Saltwater and Glassmoon" as sonic drug which helps to tear the mind off the body, to fly just over the sea surface and to try to reach the fullmoon (yes, I'm speaking about the cover right now). The music is really conductive to create such visions, there isn't a single moment which could disturb the bliss. Whole thing drowns in melancholic but somehow... warm moods. Just as warm as the night on the cover. If I'd try to compare this releases with something, it could be... I don't know... Robert Rich "Sunyata" perhaps?

Since few weeks "Saltwater and Glassmoon" keeps me company almost every night. I don't listen to it during the day, when it's hot and bright. But when I go to sleep, I play this Stellar Auditorium release on "repeat" function and let Morfeus to take care over me. I kind of sleep better these days.
