THE JOY OF NATURE "The empty circle part I"

Few weeks ago finally another full album of THE JOY OF NATURE saw the light of day. This time it's been released by Ahnstern, Steinklang's sublabel. Previous album was released two years ago by Polish label Bunkier Productions. In the meantime we received few EP's... I ask Luis what are the main musical differences between "The Empty Circle Part 1" and previous TJON releases. "It's been a long time since our last album was released, and in singles and EPs one is not able to show as many sides as we did on this album. This one is still too fresh for me to clearly point out some differences. I will need a certain distance to do that. But, anyway, I think it is more experimental and psychedelic; and more electric too. All this is natural because of the concept behind the album. But the next one will be folkier than ever. With this trilogy, almost everything of what The Joy of Nature is, will be clear".

Excatly, "The Empty Circle Part I", as the name indicates, is first part of intriguing trilogy - "This album is about a world of disquiet, in which a catharsis should be done. To gather the impurities, realize their nature and build something pure from there". What's the genesis of such an intriguing concept? "The hermetico-alchemical Nigredo, that I experienced in a certain way during the most part of the composition and recording process. My own experiences are more present in this album than on other recordings. The purity that will follow is the hermetico-alchemical Albedo", explains Luis.

I ask then if there are any particulal emotions he would like to arouse in the listeners with "The Empty Circle Part 1". "I leave it up to every listener as, once released, the work doesn't belong to "me" anymore. I see in it the theatre in which we live our daily lives and the sense of wonder that sometimes comes out of a moment, the pure beauty and horror that is hidden in everything. "Remember me, but ah! forget my fate" – those are the words that finish the album, taken from Henry Purcell's Dido & Aenas, and that serves as a link to the other parts to the trilogy. Sometimes, there is a correspondence between a tragic fate and a deep inner life. The essence should be remembered, but not the fate of one's individual. And what memory usually keeps is the fate and not the essence", answers Portuguese musician.

The album is out and available in good distros.
